’Toy Man’ dies at 73
Ralph Vincent Pallesco, 73, of Washington, died Monday, June 10, 2013, in UPMC hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born October 20, 1939, in Washington, a son of the late Marco and Lucinda Donfrancesco Pallesco.
Mr. Pallesco attended Washington High School and Triangle Tech.
He was a foreman at Findley Refractories and later was an outside contractor.
Mr. Pallesco enjoyed racing cars, boating, fishing, cooking and his grandchildren.
Having been the founder and coordinator, Washington-Greene County Toys for Tots fulfilled his life. Giving to needy children at Christmas gave him great joy. He was known as the “Toy Man.”
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965. He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and Marine Corp League 1138. He started the Marine Corps League of Washington County.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Sally Thompson Pallesco; two sons, Mike (Tracy) Pallesco of Washington and Tim (Kandi) Harrison of Claysville; four grandchildren, Aubriena “his princess,” Tayden Pallesco and Deven and Cameron Harrison; a sister, Elvira Bieda, wife of the late Carl Bieda; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased are four sisters, Virge (Jim) Tocci, Lucy (Dave) Moore, Gerry (John) Sorice and Mary (Tony) Desmond.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, with the Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The Marine Corps League of Washington County will render a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Full military rites will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps League of Washington County.
