Robert W. Stumpf
Retired from Allegheny Ludlum
Robert W. Stumpf passed away peacefully Monday, June 10, 2013, in Boynton Beach, Fla.
He was born in Latrobe in 1934.
Mr. Stumpf was a 1953 graduate of Trinity High School in Washington, where he was a popular baseball and basketball player.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He then married his bride of 56 years, Kay Aber Stumpf, in Washington.
For his entire career of 45 years, he worked for Allegheny Ludlum, formerly Jessop Steel, in production and sales, and most recently as national sales manager of the Midwest region. He also served as president of Washington Jaycees.
Mr. Stumpf was a beloved friend to many in Washington, Marlborough, Mass., Naperville, Ill., Delray Beach, Fla., Wells, Maine, and Quail Ridge in Boynton Beach, his homes throughout his wonderful life. To say he will be terribly missed would be an understatement. One could not ask for a better husband, father, grandfather or friend. He was always ready with a warm smile, a hug and a laugh. Happy memories are his legacy. No one loved more deeply than Mr. Stumpf, nor has anyone been more truly loved by so many.
In addition to his wife, Kay, surviving are his children, Diane Pelcastre (Hector), Colleen Stumpf and Bill Stumpf (Susan); a brother, Ronald Stumpf; sisters Patricia D’Andrea and Jeannine Dhayer; and granddaughters Itzayana and Adaliz.
A private family memorial service will be held Friday, June 14, in Boynton Memorial Chapel. He will be laid to rest in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Fla. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
