Gerald E. Spinnenweber Jr., 66, of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 15, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born February 5, 1947, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Gerald E. Sr. and Margaret Maccahia Spinnenweber.
Mr. Spinnenweber was Roman Catholic and attended St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg, until its closing.
He was a graduate of Canon-McMillan Senior High School, Class of 1965.
Mr. Spinnenweber was employed by Shop ‘n Save grocery store in Canonsburg, for more than 25 years.
He loved his dogs and cat.
Mr. Spinnenweber was a longtime Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade Committee volunteer, since its inception in 1962. He also was a member of the Polish National Union and UFWC Local 23.
On September 7, 1968, in St. Genevieve Church, he married Phyllis Ann Surich, who survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Tela and husband Steven Sousa of Canonsburg; a son, Kyle Spinnenweber (fiancée Nichole Rubis) of Morgantown, W.Va.; a grandson, Richard S. Ritenour; a sister, Irene (Bernard) Price of Canonsburg; a sister-in-law, Margaret Spinnenweber of Canonsburg; a niece, Ashley Lynn Price; niece and nephew Louis and Ava Spinnenweber; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Keith and Melody Surich and Walter and Betsy (Penny Lane) Surich.
Deceased is a brother, Louis Spinnenweber.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg. A blessing service will be held privately at a later date.
