Korean War veteran was retired USPS truck driver
Kenneth G. Chickie, 79, of McDonald, died Friday, June 14, 2013, in his home.
He was born May 26, 1934, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Albert and Marian Reiner Chickie.
Mr. Chickie served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service at the downtown office and retired in 1991.
Mr. Chickie enjoyed gambling trips to the casinos and his beloved dog, Coco.
On September 15, 1962, he married Diana M. Descamps, who died November 16, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Joanne Griffin of McDonald and Claudine (Jeff) McDonald of McKees Rocks; and three grandchildren, Ian Griffin, Jordan Griffin and Rachelle Chickie.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, under the direction of Nation Funeral Home Inc., with Father Benedetto Vaghetto, pastor of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, McDonald, officiating. A memorial gathering will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in McDonald Veterans of Foreign Wars., East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald.
