Zoe Mae Cokeley Tarr
Loving mother, sister and aunt
Zoe Mae Cokeley Tarr, daughter of Harry Ray and Willa A. Ross Cokeley, was born June 15, 1925, in Cairo, W.Va. She departed this life Thursday, May 2, 2013, at her farm near Fordland, Mo., at the age of 87.
Raised in Washington with her brothers and sisters, she loved the outdoors.
Mrs. Tarr was a long distance operator for Bell Telephone Co.
She met the love of her life, Charles Chester Tarr Jr., at a church function, and on February 7, 1949, the couple was united in marriage. To this union, one daughter and son were born. The couple moved to California in 1963, where they lived until Mr. Tarr retired. In November 1979, they moved to a farm in the Seymour, Mo., area.
Deceased are her parents; her husband of 57 years Charles; and a brother-in-law Paul Sams.
Surviving are her children, Dennis Tarr and Lola Tarr, both of Seymour; and two brothers, Holland Cokeley and wife Alice and Calvin Cokeley and wife Margaret, and sister Annebell Cokeley Sams, all of Washington.
A member of the Christian Missionary Alliance, she humbly served her Lord by caring for her family and reaching out to her community by volunteering for the Salvation Army. She held the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, shinning his love and peace with her kind heart. She never let her hands be idle and loved to crochet things for others. The outdoors brought her such joy as she watched the birds and the animals that came to visit her in her backyard. Mrs. Tarr was a loving mother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. Her family celebrates her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she left for them to share. She will be missed and forever loved by her family.
