Carol J. Longwell, 62, of Cameron, W.Va., died unexpectedly at 1:28 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va.
She was born December 25, 1950, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Raymond Edmund and Esther Mae West Stoops. She had resided in the Cameron area all of her life.
Mrs. Longwell enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, cooking, baking and raising a flower garden.
She attended Cameron area schools.
Mrs. Longwell was formerly employed as a dietary aide at Mound View Health Care in Moundsville, W.Va., a certified nursing assistant at Cameron Nursing Home and a waitress at the former Brown’s Restaurant in Cameron. At the time of her death, she had been employed for five years as a home health aide with Marshall County Senior Center in Moundsville.
Surviving are her companion of the past 10 years, Richard Mace; three daughters, Billie Jo Newman of Wheeling, Becky Longwell of Wind Ridge and Betsy Longwell, companion of Jeremiah Cain of New Freeport; five grandchildren, Julie Longwell, Taylor Newman, Wyatt Whitlatch, Mackenzie Miller and Andrew Michael Cain; two brothers, James, husband of Shannon Stoops and Michael Stoops, both of Charleston, W.Va.; three sisters, Martha Lee Geho of New Martinsville, W.Va., Jackie Jobes and Sue Stoops, both of Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a son, Michael David Baker.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, with Pastor Phillip Campbell Jr. officiating.
