Judith Ann Samples, 56, of Washington, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, after battling cancer since 1996.
She was born October 24, 1955, in Washington, a daughter of Bryan Thomas and Helen Jerry Livingood Thomas.
Mrs. Samples was a graduate of McGuffey School and received an associate’s degree from Penn Commercial.
She was an admitting clerk at Washington Hospital for many years.
Mrs. Samples was a member of Washington Alliance Church, where she was a member of the Awania Club and a co-leader of the LIFE group.
She enjoyed gardening.
On November 9, 1991, she married Leland Samples, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Joshua (Alicia) Edwards of Marianna and Leland Samples Jr. of Hickory; two daughters, Laura Lea Samples of Harmerville and Holly Sue Samples of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Nancy Simonelli of Bradenton, Fla., and Paula Thomas of Wales, United Kingdom; a mother-in-law, Mary Evelyn Samples; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Jennifer Anne Edwards; and a brother, James Bryan Thomas.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, in Washington Alliance Church, Washington, with Brian Greenleaf officiating. Please meet at the church.
