Lucy Guarino, 85, of North Strabane Township, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital.

She was born January 15, 1928, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Nicola and Maria Michele “Micheline” Buonopane Guarino.

Mrs. Guarino was a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in McMurray.

She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Guarino, along with her husband, owned and operated Village Italian Store in Caste Village in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.

On May 25, 1948, she married Samuel S. Guarino, who is deceased.

Surviving are a son, Samuel A. (Nancy) Guarino of North Strabane Township; four grandchildren, Samuel N. (Amy) Guarino, Talli Guarino (Eric), Toni A. (Rich) Yates and Nick Guarino (Jackie); two great-grandsons, Brayden Guarino and Luca Yates; a sister, Congetta (James) Mongelluzzo of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Michael J. Guarino; two sisters, Melina LaBounty and Antoinette Peluso; and three brothers, Pat, Joe and Nick Redondo.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, in St. Benedict the Abbot Roman Catholic Church, McMurray. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
