Enjoyed family, deep sea fishing, candymaking
Helen H. Dorazio, 92, of Belle Vernon, died Friday, June 21, 2013, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
She was born July 25, 1920, in Monongahela, a daugter of Joseph and Yustyna Sivie Gregor.
Mrs. Dorazio attended Monongahela High School and lived in Van Voorhis for most of her life.
While residing in West Virginia, she was manager of Eleanor Dress Shop in Morgantown, W.Va. She also lived in Virginia and worked in the customer service department for First Virginia Bank until retiring. She then moved to Thousand Oaks, Calif., where she lived for 20 years before returning to the Mon Valley in 2000. While in California, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially deep sea fishing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, candymaking, golf and bowling.
She was a very active member in Church of St. Anne in Belle Vernon, where she was a member of Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the counting team and served on the funeral luncheon committee. She also volunteered with the community food bank in Rostraver Township.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Dorazio and wife Anna of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Richard Dorazio and wife Sharon of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Dorazio, who died July 23, 2006; three sisters, Stella Herman, Josephine Sanders Stanko and Anna Richardson; and two brothers, Ted Gregor and John Patla.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, in Church of St. Anne with the Rev. Vincent J. Gigliotti, pastor, as celebrant.
Committal and entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. Condolences may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
