John Antosh
Avid gardener served in U.S. Navy
John “Rick” Antosh, 69, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, in his home, following a brief illness, with his loving family by his side.
He was born January 10, 1944, in Washington, a son of the late John J. “Turk” and Helen “Babe” Szczerbienski Antosh.
Mr. Antosh was a graduate of Canon-McMillan Sr. High School and served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He lived in Houston for the past 45 years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a sales representative with Lincoln Manufacturing Co. for more than 30 years.
Mr. Antosh was an avid gardener, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and, most especially, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
On May 8, 1965, he married Sandy Lazor, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Sherri (Kevin) Schmidt, Eric Michael Antosh, Shannon (Rob) Scarfo and Scott John Antosh; seven cherished grandchildren, Brooke and Allie Scarfo, Cody and Lindsey Schmidt and Tyson, Tegan and Taven Antosh; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to his mother and father, is a sister, Jeanie Spiller.
Friends are welcome from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. Full military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 and American Legion Post 902 Honor Guard.
