Edna Claire Whipkey
Edna Claire Whipkey, 80, of Carmichaels, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, in Haney’s Personal Care Home, Rices Landing.
She was born October 4, 1932, in Wana, W.Va., a daughter of the late James and Ruth Rhinehart Strosnider.
Mrs. Whipkey was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School, Class of 1950.
She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Carmichaels. She had attended Rices Landing United Methodist and enjoyed playing bingo and cards.
On August 6, 1955, she married Charles G. “Gib” Whipkey, who survives.
Also surviving are children April Mezan and husband Jim of Clarksville, Stuart Whipkey of Carmichaels, Kathy Waligora and husband Joe of Jefferson, Leslie Connor and husband Bob of Carmichaels, Charles G. “Gib” Whipkey Jr. of Carmichaels, Pam DiBiase of Jefferson, Mike Whipkey and wife Andrea of Carmichaels and Bev Klimek and husband Jon of Carmichaels; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dolores Cumberledge of Brave, Peg Dunn of Baltimore, Md., and Bev Strosnider of Baltimore; and a brother, James Strosnider of Florida.
Deceased are three sisters, Valerie Wagner, Jean Goetz and Dorothy Crider; and a brother, Stuart Strosnider.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m., the time of service, Tuesday, March 5, in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. The Rev. Gary Cobert will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association/Pittsburgh Chapter, 1100 Liberty Avenue, Suite E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
