Janet Verdichio Amond

Janet Verdichio Amond, 60, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born May 27, 1952, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late James and Heleena Ratteni Verdichio.

In 1970, she graduated from Canon-McMillan High School.

For nearly 30 years, she worked as an administrative assistant for CoGo’s and as a receptionist at Grand Residence Nursing Home in Pittsburgh.

For the past few years, she was a member of Canonsburg Elks.

She lived for her grandchildren and loved giving herself to family, friends and all who knew her.

Going to The Meadows Racetrack & Casino and playing slot machines was enjoyable for her.

Surviving are a son, Steve (Karen) Bardos of Cranberry Township; two grandchildren, Michael and Alexis Bardos; three sisters, Jeanie (Bernie) Blanco of Cecil, Judy (John) Hall of Toledo, Ohio, and Sandy (David) Dungee of Abbotstown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
