Jonathan Joseph Talpas

Jonathan Joseph “JJ” Talpas, 27, of Canonsburg, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, in Health Park Memorial Center, Fort Meyers, Fla., with his family by his side.

He was born June 8, 1985, in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon, a son of Kevin J. and Lynette G. O’Hare Talpas, with whom he made his home.

Mr. Talpas had lived his entire life in the Eighty Four and Canonsburg areas and was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Muse.

He was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School Class of 2004 and earned a degree in graphic design from Pittsburgh Technical Institute in 2006. He was a freelance graphic designer.

An avid Steelers and Miami Heat fan, he enjoyed his computer, video games and watching movies with his family and friends.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Shelley Talpas of Canonsburg; paternal grandfather Joseph Talpas of Canonsburg; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Deceased are his paternal grandmother, Marie Slavonic Talpas, and his maternal grandparents, John and Grace Christy O’Hare.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Rosary Church, Muse, with Father George DeVille as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, North Strabane Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
