Bertha Bartkus
Bertha Bartkus, 92, of Cecil, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray.
She was born December 19, 1920, in McDonald, a daughter of the late Leon and Emelina Bohey Berger.
Mrs. Bartkus was a member of St. Mary Parish.
She was a proud treasurer for many years for the Hilltopper, a member of RCA Retirement Club and Cecil No. 3 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bartkus enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and making music with her accordion. She last entertained at her 90th birthday party.
She was always helpful and loved by her family.
Mrs. Bartkus was a graduate of Cecil High School, Class of 1938.
She worked as a radio assembler for RCA in Meadow Lands.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ventresca and Carol Mihalek, both of Cecil; a granddaughter, Mica (Chris) Minor; two great-grandchildren, Kylie Rethage (fiancé Jerry Carter) and Maci Minor, both of Charlotte, N.C.; and a brother, George Berger of Aliquippa.
Her dogs, Poncho and Brandy, will certainly miss their treats from Momma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John T. Bartkus in 1985; sisters Angel Behling and Amelia Opferman; and a brother, Leon Berger.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road (Route 50) Cecil, where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, followed by a Christian Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Cecil, at 10 a.m. with Father Stan Gregorek officiating. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Peters Township.
