Thomas Patsy Arena Sr.
Thomas P. Arena Sr., 79, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1933, in Washington, a son of Patsy and Grace Murphy Arena.
Mr. Arena graduated from Washington High School in 1950 and attended Penn Commercial.
He was employed at Jessop Steel for 38 years as a carpenter, and he was a Club House teller at The Meadows for 40 years.
Mr. Arena served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956, having received the National Defense Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal and was stationed aboard the USS Amberjack submarine.
He enjoyed reading and listening to music.
Mr. Arena was a member of First Christian Church.
On September 25, 1954, in Winchester, Va., he married Jacquelyn L. Roux, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Leslie (Pete) Povich of Washington, Cathy (Johnny) Hoy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Amy (Mike) Ross of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Joseph (Margie) Arena and Patrick Arena, both of Washington; a sister, Nancy Razvoza of Port Charlotte, Fla.; six grandchildren, Nicole Jones, Christopher Pryor, Casey and Tyler Hoy and Jacob and Caitlin Ross; and two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Benjamin Jones.
Deceased is a son, Tommy Arena.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Post 175.
