Samuel J. Tylus, 57, was taken peacefully up to the Lord following a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis Monday, March 18, 2013.
He was born October 5, 1955, in Washington, a son of the late Edmund Tylus and Patricia Cooper Pattison of Washington, who survives.
Mr. Tylus was a 1973 graduate of Bentworth High School and a graduate of the Ivy School of Art, Pittsburgh.
He was a lifelong member of Cokeburg Presbyterian Church and Cokeburg Moose.
A graphic artist, he was employed by Mancuso Printing in Washington, Channel Craft in Charleroi and Renaissance Glass Works in Canonsburg, where he designed and manufactured stained and leaded glass.
He played on several dartball leagues throughout the local area.
Mr. Tylus was an avid sports fan who loved art and music and also his dachshund, Pixie.
On August 13, 1983, he married Patty Hager, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are a son, Dylan Tylus (Elaine) of South Park; three grandchildren, Riley, Cole and Chase Tylus; four sisters, Carla Tylus of Washington, Andrea West of Nonak, Conn., Monica Goblesky of Brick, N.J., and Tyra Savarese of Charleroi; a brother-in-law, Richard Hager of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, with Pastor Fran Skariot officiating. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
