Gertrude A. Archer, 80, of Pittsburgh, formerly of West Alexander and Claysville, died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Transitions Healthcare Autumn Grove Nursing and Rehab Center in Harrisville, after being in failing health for the past several years.
She was born February 5, 1933, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wishart and Lucy Geho Supler.
Mrs. Archer had resided in Dallas, W.Va., Claysville, West Alexander and West Finley Township, prior to moving to Pittsburgh in 2006.
She was a member of Roney’s Point Presbyterian Church in Triadelphia, W.Va., and Dallas Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Archer was a graduate of the former Triadelphia High School.
She was last employed in the housekeeping department of the former Quality Inn in Dallas Pike, W.Va., prior to retiring in 2004.
Mrs. Archer enjoyed baking and socializing with her many friends and neighbors, as long as her health permitted.
On September 29, 1962, she married Robert Wayne Archer, who died December 27, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca (Becky), wife of Aymen Alsalehi of Pittsburgh (Franklin Park); a grandson, Matthew D. Alsalehi; two sisters, Dorothy Kerekes of Canonsburg and Shirley Archer of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Edward, husband of Ann Supler of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a sister, Eleanor Smilia, and a brother, Galen Supler.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday, March 22, in West Alexander Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer Disease Research Center, Attention Leslie Dunn, MPH, ADRC Administrator, University of Pittsburgh, UPMC-Montefiore, Four West, 200 Lothrop Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213-2582.
