Virginia M. Hecht
Virginia M. Hecht, 84, of Englewood, Colo., went to be with her Lord Monday, March 11, 2013, with her family by her side.
She was born November 16, 1928, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late John and Edna Neill Daugherty.
Mrs. Hecht was a 1946 graduate of Canonsburg High School.
She was a former member of Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church in Canonsburg and was a member of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Englewood at the time of her death.
Mrs. Hecht belonged to several charitable and civic organizations.
She loved nature, gardening, sewing, cooking and reading and studying the Bible.
On October 29, 1955, she married Dr. Manfred H. Hecht, who died September 7, 1982.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Rogan and husband Gary of Centennial, Colo., Monica Sawyer and husband David of Denver, Colo., and Susan M. Hecht of Littleton, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jessica Rogan and James and Abigail Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Manfred Curt Hecht; a brother, John Daugherty; and three sisters, Elizabeth O’Bryon, Dorothy Deakin and Margaret Spadaro.
Friends will be received from 1 to 1:30 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, March 23, in Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg, with the Rev. Donald C. Austin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. In lieu of flowers, the family suggets memorial contributions be made to Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
