William Thomas Freeman Sr.

William Thomas “Bill” Freeman Sr., 66, formerly of Clarksville and Carmichaels, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, in a truck accident in DeLand, Fla.

He was born March 6, 1946, in Brownsville.

Mr. Freeman and his family moved to St. Augustine, Fla., in 1983. He was a former coal miner and was employed by DeLand Truck Center at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Freeman of Adah; a sister, Patsy Bodnar; and a brother, Darwin Freeman.

Surviving are his wife, Paula Freeman of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a son, William Thomas Freeman Jr. of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; a daughter, Terri Freeman Borchardt and husband Marc of Rome, Ga.; his mother, Phyllis Freeman of Adah; a brother, Charles Freeman of Clinton; a sister, Mary Scandrol of Fredericktown; and several nieces and nephew.

He also leaves behind his faithful animal companion, Muffy.

Volusia County Cremation society is in charge of arrangements. A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 25, in First Christian Church, Republic. A Catholic memorial Mass was previously said for him in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Cancer Navigators, 3 Central Plaza, Suite 415, Rome, GA 30161, or www.cancernavigatorsga.org.
