Helen Bukovinsky Bradenburg

Helen “Patsy” Bukovinsky Brandenburg of Avella passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born March 30, 1942, in Avella, a daughter of the late Midge and John Bukovinsky.

Mrs. Brandenburg was a 1960 graduate of Avella High School.

After having three children, a daughter, Jody Kern, and two sons, Ron and Nancy Brandenburg and John and Mary Ann Brandenburg, she went to cosmetology school and had a shop in her home for 39 years.

She had six grandchildren, Bethanie and Courtney Kern, Renee Brandenburg and fiancé Ben, Ron (Stacy) Brandenburg and Trish and Alex Brandenburg.

On June 25, 1960, in St. Michael’s Church, she married Ronald Brandenburg, who survives. They were married for 52 years.

Mrs. Brandenburg was past president of St. Michael’s Christian Mothers, member of Cross Creek Senior Citizens, Avella fire hall auxiliary and Avella Sportsmen’s Club. She enjoyed cooking with her friends. They had fish fries for Avella fire hall and made a lot of spaghetti sauce for Avella American Legion and St. Michael’s Church.

There will be no visitation. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, in St. Michael’s Church, Avella, with Father Bob Staszewski and Father Alvin Gutierrez as celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avella. Arrangements are being handled by Reasner Funeral Home, Wellsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Avella Volunteer Fire Department, or St. Michael’s Church, Avella. Condolences may be made to ReasnerofWellsburg.com.
