Ruth P. Travaglini
Ruth P. Travaglini, 87, a lifelong resident of Canonsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Golden Living Center of South Hills.
She was born February 13, 1926, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Zigmond and Anna Smigels Polosky.
Mrs. Travaglini spent her entire life in the Canonsburg area. She was a 1941 graduate of Canonsburg High School, where she was the salutatorian.
She was a member of St. Genevieve Worship Site of St. Patrick Parish her entire life.
Prior to her marriage, she worked for eight years as a cost accountant for Continental Can Co. in Canonsburg. She also worked at the book shop in Canonsburg for 17 years, until her retirement in 1992.
On July 5, 1950, she married Daniel Travaglini, who passed away April 18, 1958. She never remarried, saying, “I lost the love of my life; I will never be able to find a better man.”
Surviving are a son, Daniel (Rebecca) Travaglini, and a granddaughter, Julia Ann, whom she cherished her time with, saying was the greatest joy in her life, both of Canonsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Travaglini was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are three brothers, Joseph Pruce and Walter and Edward Polosky, and a sister, Jane Reynier.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg.
