Margaret Sonnenberg

Margaret Sonnenberg, 106, formerly of Langeloth and Haveloch Commons, McDonald, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, in Paramount Senior Living Center, McMurray.

She was born in the North Side of Pittsburgh March 3, 1907, a daughter of the late Albert and Regina Metz Blind.

A graduate of Langely High School in Sheridan, she modeled at Joseph Hornes after high school and ice danced with a partner at Duquesne Gardens and in Canada.

Before being a homemaker, Mrs. Sonnenberg was a crane operator for Coraopolis Steel during World War II.

Her husband, Edward E. Sonnenberg, died January 29, 1970.

A member of Langeloth Community Presbyterian Church, she played the organ and traveled all over the country.

Surviving are a daughter, Myrna Sonnenberg Bettinger of Alpharetta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Kim Shay, Lisa Woody and Charles Bettinger; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 10 until the time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, officiated by the Rev. Dan Ekas. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Langeloth Community Presbyterian Church.
