Lt. Col. Henry P. Bills, 62, of Washington, formerly of Hastings, died Friday, March 22, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born July 21, 1950, in Hastings, a son of the late Henry G. and Mary M. Miller Bills.

Mr. Bills was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands.

He was a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School in Ebensburg and a graduate of Penn State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in forestry and a master’s degree in business from Webster College.

Mr. Bills became a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army through the ROTC program at Penn State. He worked briefly as a forester and as a coal miner. He became an active reservist in the United States Army for 17 years. He also worked for the National Drug Intelligence Center in Johnston, retiring in May 2012. He retired as a Lt. Col. receiving the following decorations and citations: Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon and the Army Staff Identification Badge.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, reading, watching Western movies, “Star Trek” and Taekwondo with his son. He enjoyed his family to the fullest especially his grandchildren, whom he had shared many fun times with.

On August 26, 1972, he married Janice M. Ludwig, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Heidi (Tom) Gonzalez of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, Jared Bills of Irwin; a sister, Rebecca (Joseph) Michael of Holidaysburg; four grandchildren, Kyle, Carly, Alexis and Aaron; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with Father Carmen D’Amico, as celebrant. Frances A. Cushma, 77, of Canonsburg, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Consulate Health Care, Canonsburg.

She was born July 23, 1935, in Houston, a daughter of the late Anton and Catherine Mier Curl.

Mrs. Cushma was a 1953 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and lived her entire life in the Canonsburg area.

She was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and gardening.

On August 25, 1955, she married her beloved husband of 57 years, Thomas Cushma, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas A. and David A. Cushma and a daughter, Kathryn J. Cushma, all of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sisters, Ann Stewart and Susan Gabster and two brothers, Rudolph Kosmus and Edward Curl.

Mrs. Cushma was the last of her immediate family.

Margarette Anne Buber Hausher, 83, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, in UPMC-Montefiore, Pittsburgh.

Frances C. Lytton, 84, of Canton Township, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, in her home. She had been in declining health for a number of years.

She was born July 31, 1928, in Claysville, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Carpenter Cummins.

Mrs. Lytton was a graduate of Trinity High School.

She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, cooking and baking. More important to her was time spent with her large family.

On December 1, 1946, she was married to Lawrence E. Lytton Sr., who died November 25, 1998.

Surviving are four sons, Lawrence E. (Debbie) Lytton Jr. of Claysville, James (Lisa) Lytton of West Alexander and Charles and Kenneth (Cara) of Claysville; four daughters, Virginia M. (Steven) Mersky of Washington, Bonnie (Rom) Mansoura of San Francisco, Calif., Lois (Ricardo) Gregg of Claysville and Karen Roth of Washington; a brother, Charles Cummins of Washington; six sisters, Dorothy Cummins and Judith McDonough, both of Claysville and Mona Lesnock, Shirley Phillips, Betty Sprowls and Mary Williams, all of Washington; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a sister, Maureen Main; a brother, Robert Cummins; and a grandchild, David Michael Gregg.

Gary Renshaw, 66, of Madison, Ala., died Friday, March 22, 2013.

He was born November 8, 1946, in Monongahela.

Mr. Renshaw was a 1968 graduate of Athens State College.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a small business owner in Athens, Ala.

Deceased are his mother, Irene Azzo Renshaw, and wife Ann Ashford Renshaw.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Taylor Renshaw; daughter Renee Renshaw Williams; son-in-law Sean Williams; grandson Jack Williams; father James Renshaw; stepmother Vivian Renshaw of Eighty Four; sister Robin Sams; and three stepchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, in Roselawn Cemetery, Athens.

Virginia Boord Schiffbauer, 83, of Carmichaels, died at 7:16 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg.

She was born July 9, 1929, in Greensboro, Greene County, a daughter of the late James Russell and Helen Gladys Mundell Boord.

Mrs. Schiffbauer resided in the Carmichaels area most of her life and had been a member of the former United Methodist Church in Donora.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing bingo.

Her husband, Harry L. Schiffbauer, died January 28, 2005.

Surviving are two daughters, Cristy Redinger and husband Robert of Garards Fort and Patricia Baer and husband James of Aurora, Colo.; three grandchildren, Erik Redinger and wife Lani, Craig Redinger and wife Cynthia and David Baer; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Redinger; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Boord of Carmichaels; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, James Boord and Edward Boord and two sisters, Betty Rose Boord, who died in childhood, and Marjorie Tabor.

Tyler Lee “Ty” Smithyman, 23, of Eighty Four, wonderful son, loving brother and proud uncle, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 23, 2012.

Surviving are his parents, James Smithyman (Shari) and Sheri Smithyman (Charles).

He will be fondly remembered by his best friend and brother Brandon Smithyman (Danielle); sisters Jacqulynn Smithyman (Jason) and Ashley Smithyman (Kirklyn); brother Luke Smithyman; and grandparents Patricia Smithyman, Terry Randolph, Carol Randolph (Gordon) and John and Judy Davis.

Deceased are his great-grandparents Claire and Betty Guthrie; grandfather Thomas B. Smithyman; grandfather Richard Walters; uncle Thomas B. Smithyman (Rosanne); and dear cousin Lisa Smithyman.

Mr. Smithyman was a graduate with honors of Ringgold High School and Robert Morris University.

He was employed by Traveler’s Insurance Co.

Mr. Smithyman will be deeply missed by his nephew, Connor, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Elizabeth “Betty” Voytish Hamilton Thompson, 84, of Fallowfield Township, recently residing in Arizona, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, March 24, 2013, in Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township.

She was born June 16, 1928, in Gibson, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Matty Voytish.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are an infant daughter, Rebecca Sue; three sisters; and three brothers.

Surviving are her husband, Jack Thompson of Arizona; a daughter, Teresa (Rob) Greenlee of Carroll Township; three sons, Alden C. (Jayne) Hamilton III of Oregon, Michael (Sherri) Hamilton of Illinois and James (Cindy) Hamilton of the state of California; two stepdaughters, Carol Thompson and Idella Hawkins, both of Arizona; a stepson, Timothy Thompson of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Burkhart of Elizabeth and Ann Collins of California; three brothers, Paul Voytish of Florida, George Voytish of Monessen and Thomas Voytish of Ohio; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends, neighbors and even strangers whose lives were changed by knowing her.

“Nana” will forever be remembered for her incredible love for Jesus and her fellow man.

Arveda A. Inghram Lemley Throckmorton, 95, of Washington, formerly of Waynesburg, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare at Washington.

She was born September 13, 1917, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late John and Goldie Bosworth Kerns.

Mrs. Throckmorton was a homemaker. She worked for several years preparing income tax returns with her late husband.

She resided most of her life in the Waynesburg area, where she was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church. She attended Valley Chapel United Methodist Church in Holbrook. She was a member of Lady Greene Rebekah Lodge for many years.

Mrs. Throckmorton was devoted to her family. She enjoyed hosting family and friends in her home every Christmas Eve. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and loved the color red.

Surviving are daughter Mary Ellen Inghram (companion David Dulaney) of Waynesburg; nephews John R. Inghram (wife Debbie Smith) of Washington, Harry Inghram (wife Alexa) of Bristoria and Johnny Bill Tharp; niece Brenda Roach (Richard) of Waynesburg; stepson Bruce Lemley of Ohio; nine grandchildren, Tracy McDade, Charles Hunnell, Kenneth Hunnell, Tammy Hunnell, Toni Snyder, Steven Hunnell, William Hunnell, Tanya Zimmerman and Marcia Moore; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased are her husband of 44 years, Arthur K. Inghram; her husband of 10 years, Francis (Lefty) Lemley; and two sisters, Betty Tharp and Ruth Inghram.

Stella A. Zalom, 82, of Clarksville, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, in UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh, with her loving daughters by her side.

She was born November 23, 1930, in Mather, a daughter of the late John and Mary O’Brochta Kubasik.

Mrs. Zalom was a 1948 graduate of Jefferson High School and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Clarksville, where she was a eucharistic minister.

On November 19, 1955, she married Andrew Zalom, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Karen Zalom (Kevin Benson) of Lawrence and Andrea Zalom (Ed Sutter) of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Joseph Kubasik and wife Mary of Clarksville; a sister, Helen Gates of Brownsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Charles Kubasik and John Kubasik and two sisters, Rose Koziel and Elizabeth Brendle.
