John E. Manges
John E. Manges, 78, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born February 27, 1935, in Lamberton, a son of John Eldred and Pauline Semoskey Manges.
In the 1970s, he was the general manager of Rebel Manufacturing in Donora. He retired from Combustion Engineering in East Monongahela with more than 25 years of employment.
Mr. Manges joined Company A with the Army National Guard in Monongahela and was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 455 of Monongahela and Carroll American Legion James C. Ford Post 949 of Dunkirk and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1409 of Monongahela. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed camping, golf and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Rosalie Pust Manges, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage July 14, 2012; a son, James M. Manges and wife Joan E. of Bellevue; a grandson, James M. Manges II and wife Ashley; a granddaughter, Joslynne K. Manges; two brothers, Darwin R. Manges and wife Susan of Monongahela and James L. Manges and wife Grace of Donora; and two sisters, Lois Thomas and husband William of Florida and Carolyn Pavlisak and husband Frank of Monongahela.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, in St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, with the Rev. William Terza, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, with full military honors conducted by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to Cerebral Palsy Legacy Fund, c/o BPO Elks Lodge 455, 444-446 Jackson Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.
