June “Sissy” “Sisterbell” “June Bug” Barskite, 51, of Finleyville, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 26, 2013, in her home.

She was born January 29, 1962, in New Eagle, a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Catherine Barle Barskite.

A 1979 graduate of Ringgold High School, she went on to graduate from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and earned her nursing degree from Community College of Allegheny County.

She was employed for 18 years as a registered nurse at Monongahela Valley Hospital, the Greenery and Canonsburg General Hospital. She was a devoted nurse who was truly dedicated to taking care of her patients.

She had a heart of gold and touched so many people in so many ways. Even when diagnosed with a devastating disease, she never wanted to quit. She continued to work until she was no longer able, staying strong until the end. God blesses us with angels, and she was definitely one of them. Her family praises and thanks Jesus that her pain and suffering did not endure. They remember her smile and that precious laugh. She was taken from them too soon. God bless “Sissy.”

Left to cherish her are three sisters and three brothers, Frances “Honey” Weber of Washington, Joseph “Buddy” Barskite of Champion, Saundra Mellinger, Harry Barskite and Edward Barskite and companion Crystal, all of Finleyville, and Lillian and husband Daniel Rice of Sydney, Ohio; aunt Frances Barskite Vavasori of Monongahela; five nieces and four nephews, Christopher and Catherine Weber, Kim Garrity, Missy Maize, David Mellinger, Michael Barskite, and Celine, Daniel “Buddy” and Brooke Rice; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, in Valley Inn Social Hall, Snyder Avenue and Orchard Lane, Monongahela, with the Rev. Martha Ann Brova, 76, died Monday, April 29, 2013, in Treasure Coast Hay-Madeira Hospice House, Stuart, Fla.

She was born in New Kensington July 16, 1936, and raised in Scenery Hill. She moved with her family to Port St. Lucie, Fla., in 1979.

Mrs. Brova was a real estate broker for more than 30 years, having served as the president of the Florida Board of Realtors in 1989. She was owner of Century 21 The Real Estate Center.

She loved spending time with her family and helping others. She was an amazing woman and will be missed by many.

Mrs. Brova was a daughter of Llewellyn and Margaret “Peg” Morgan of Scenery Hill.

She is survived by a sister, Gretchen Ball of Scenery Hill; a son, Gregory Brova and wife Julie of Hobe Sound, Fla.; Jon Brova of Stuart; a daughter, Beth Wuycheck and husband Daniel of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a son, Frank “Chip” Brova III and wife Jennifer of Port St. Lucie; grandchildren Nicole Brova Drost of Stuart, Mario Brova of Ellsworth, Stephen Wuycheck of Boston, Mass., and Dana Wuycheck of Fort Pierce; and a great-granddaughter, Natalina Drost of Stuart.

Deceased are her husband, Frank Brova Jr., and a grandson, David Wuycheck.

Robin L. Carlisle, 53, of California, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

She was born December 14, 1959, in Washington, a daughter of Mary Jane Carlisle of Fayetteville, N.C., and the late Roy C. Carlisle.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Renee D. Carlisle, with whom she made her home; a brother, John (Donna) Carlisle of Washington; two sisters, Ruth Ann (William) Farley of Fayetteville and Janie (Michael) Sprowls of Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roy C. Carlisle Jr.

She enjoyed reading and spending time with her daughter while attending Bible studies.

Her cat, Emma, brought her great joy and comfort.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Richard John Haverlack was born August 25, 1940, in Avella, and died Sunday, April 21, 2013, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mr. Haverlack was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Turkily, and his parents, John and Catherine Bittner Haverlack.

He is survived by a brother, Edward (Sandra) of Covington, Va.; a stepson, Tony Bologna of Aurora, Ohio; a nephew, John Haverlack, and a niece, Stephanie (Justin) Crawford, both of Fairbanks, Alaska; and an uncle, Joe (Kathryn) Haverlack of Benson, Ariz.

Mr. Haverlack graduated from Avella High School in 1958 and attended West Liberty State College.

He was a life member of Avella Fire Department and Rescue Squad and was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mr. Haverlack retired from the Aurora Police Department in Ohio in 2006, as a dispatcher.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday, May 4, in Church of the Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where he was a parishioner. L. Vaughn Hixenbaugh, 75, of Avella, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Washington Hospital, following complications after heart surgery a few days before in Wheeling, W.Va.

He was born October 17, 1937, in Akron, Ohio, a son of L.Vaughn and Mary Elizabeth Gromo Hixenbaugh.

Mr. Hixenbaugh was a member of Claysville United Presbyterian Church.

He graduated from Claysville High School, Waynesburg College and California University.

For 30 years, he was a teacher in McGuffey School District. He also worked at Annealing Box Co. and for Sears, Roebuck and Co. Along with his wife, he operated a Shaklee Nutrition business from their home for 30 years.

Mr. Hixenbaugh was formerly a Mason, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and took several mission trips for the benefit of the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

His hobby was working. He loved time with his grandchildren, and he was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fifty-four years ago, he married Kathryn E. Closser, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Linda K. (William) McBride of Claysville; two sons, Michael A. (Sheri) Hixenbaugh of Avella and Vaughn A. (Vicki) Hixenbaugh of Washington; six grandchildren, Courtney and Dylan, and Kenna and Owen Hixenbaugh, and Benjamin and Hannah McBride; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Hixenbaugh, and a sister, Jean Gibson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 4, with the Rev. Jerome Creach officiating. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Richard L. “Dick” McGary, 83, of Washington, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.

He was born June 17, 1929, in Washington, a son of the late Earl and Florence Behner McGary.

Mr. McGary worked for Jessop Steel, retiring in 1994 after 34 years.

He enjoyed mowing grass, his tractors and sitting on his porch watching all the wildlife in his yard.

Mr. McGary served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.

On April 24, 1954, in Washington, he married Emily Jean Bennett. Mrs. McGary survives with wonderful memories of a 59-year marriage.

Also surviving are two daughters, Willetta “Willie” (Edward) McDowell and Beverly Jane “Janie” (Jack) Lenco, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Shane (Hope) McDowell, Alison (Andy) Migyanko and Jackie and Adrienne Lenco; four great-grandchildren, Erin, Molly and Troy “T.J.” McDowell and Landry Migyanko; and two nieces, Judy King and Mary Jane Cole.

Deceased are a brother, William E. McGary, and a nephew, Guy McGary.

Robert B. Richards, 64, of Washington, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born March 17, 1949, in Canonsburg, a son of Charles and Mary Richards.

Mr. Richards was a 1966 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.

He was employed as a welder for Aquatech in Canonsburg.

Mr. Richards was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the SNPJ Lodge 138, Strabane, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, Canonsburg, and Boilermakers Local 906, Donora.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine McCrary Richards; four children, William McCrary of Lawton, Okla., Carla Williams (Mark) of Washington and Toni Fowler and Constance Jones (Terry), both of Pittsburgh; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A brother, Richard Richards, is deceased.
