Archie Jackson McDonnell

Archie Jackson McDonnell, 74, of Venice, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born September 2, 1938, in Burton, W.Va., a son of the late Frank and Jelemma Wise McDonnell.

Mr. McDonnell enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He served in the U.S. Army as a specialist and expert rifleman.

Mr. McDonnell worked as a crane operator for J&L Steel.

Surviving are his wife, Patty Hoover McDonnell of Venice; two sons, David McDonnell of Venice and Donald (Dawn) McDonnell of Canonsburg; a granddaughter, Morgan (Corey) Salansky of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Kolby and Khloee Salansky of Washington; a brother, Steve (Karen) McDonnell of Troy, Ill.; four sisters, Violet (William) Morrison of Beloit, Ohio, Loretta Watson, Judy (Carl) Vanderhoof and Mary Reid, all of Claysville; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Issac and Paul McDonnell.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Route 50, Cecil, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, with Pastor Fred Soberg officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, where full military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 902 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 191 Honor Guard.
