Wilbur Arthur Moore
Wilbur Arthur Moore, 93, of Hickory, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, in Evergreen Assisted Living, Washington.
He was born March 28, 1920, in Burgettstown, a son of the late Wilbur Lee and Virginia Pettit Moore.
Mr. Moore was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.
He was a self-employed farmer and a general contractor.
Mr. Moore was a member of Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
On September 17, 1949, he married V. Jean Simpson, who died March 22, 2008.
Surviving are a son, Ronald (Michele) Moore of Hickory; four daughters, Carol (Jack) Hensel of Washington, Joyce Moore of Hickory, Linda Moore of Bentleyville and Barbara (Mike) Salvini of Washington; two brothers, Samuel Moore of McDonald and Harry Moore of Clarington, Ohio; three sisters, Alma Schwab of Burgettstown, Martha Jane Briggs of West Alexander and Mary Wilson of Taylorstown; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Charles and William Moore, and a sister, Nora Phillips.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, with Pastor Judy Mayer officiating.
