William Glenn Dean

William Glenn Dean, 91, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in a loving family home.

Known by his family as “Glenn,” he was born November 13, 1921, in Curtain, W.Va., a son of the late John Howard and Nettie Barker Dean.

Mr. Dean worked at several area coal mines and was a proud member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1197 for 70 years.

He was an avid hunter and was a good man who unselfishly gave so much to many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

On September 23, 1939, in Bentleyville, he married Helen V. Hamay, his devoted wife of 66 years, who died September 21, 2006.

Surviving are a son, William A. Dean of Fairfield, Calif.; three grandsons, Randy, Carl and Ricky Dean; five great-granddaughters; two brothers, John Herbert Dean and Earl Dean; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Howard Lee Dean Sr.

Friends are welcome from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, with his brother, Earl Dean, officiating.
