Hazel Gladys Hughes
Hazel Gladys Hughes, 92, of Cameron, W.Va., formerly of Springhill Township, Greene County, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va., after being seriously ill for the past three months.
She was born March 3, 1921, in Littleton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Albert Ray and Lettie Ward Isiminger.
Mrs. Hughes had resided in Springhill Township most of her life prior to moving to Cameron in 1985.
She was a former member of Mt. Carmel Church of God. She enjoyed growing flowers and raising a small vegetable garden. She canned everything from vegetables to homemade jelly.
Mrs. Hughes was employed as a seamstress at the former Bucheimer Co. and was last employed as an aide at Anderson Nursing Home, both in Cameron.
Surviving are two sons, James E., husband of Linda Hughes of Prosperity, and Burl D., husband of Nancy Hughes of Aleppo; seven grandchildren, John, husband of Vicky Hughes, Ed and Keith Hughes, Ginger, wife of Lynn Wise, Larry N. Hughes Jr., companion of Theresa (Trish) Whipkey, her caregiver, Jerry, husband of Sondra Hughes, and Lisa, wife of Chuck Kruezer; 11 great-grandchildren; a former daughter-in-law, Sara Lou Hughes Kenny of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a son, Larry N. Hughes Sr., who died in 1999; a sister, Mildred Howard; a brother, Lee Isiminger; and a nephew, Reed Isiminger.
Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity or church of one’s choice.
