David Nathan Bigley
David Nathan Bigley of Washington passed into Jesus’ arms Thursday, May 16, 2013.
He was born May 12, 1956, in Connellsville, a son of Bernard F. Bigley and Emily R. Leapline Bigley.
Mr. Bigley was a 1974 graduate of Connellsville High School. He then graduated from West Virginia University in 1978 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and coal-processing engineering. He retired from Consol Energy in December 2012, after 34 years of service. Most recently, he was manager of information technology at River Operations Division in Monessen.
He loved the Lord, his family, friends and his church, Washington Alliance Church. Over the past 20 years of his membership, he served his church as an elder, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, recording secretary, Board of Ministries member, choir member and member of the men’s quartet. Recently, he participated in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, where he built housing for Haitian refugees. He had planned to spend his retirement on many more. He was a Bible scholar, and he taught without intention through actions demonstrating his love for the Lord. He enjoyed participating in his Bible study group as a team leader.
Mr. Bigley loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed boating and cycling, having ridden both the Scarnati/Cawley 100 and MS 175 to raise money for Children’s Hospital and multiple sclerosis research. He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his grandson in May.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Roseann Ranker Bigley; a son, Dr. Joel David Bigley and wife Andrea of Pittsburgh; and a daughter, Dr. Lauren Renee DiGiovine and husband Dr. Daniel DiGiovine of Morgantown, W.Va.
Also surviving are sisters Regina Nazimek and husband Jack and Lois Jean Bigley and a brother, John Bigley and wife Beulah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Francis Bigley.
