Gertrude Theresa Sonson
Gertrude Theresa “Dorothy” Sonson, 89, of Washington, died Monday, May 20, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born January 12, 1924, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Paul and Antoinette Manella Buccigrossi.
Mrs. Sonson was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and a member of Christian Mothers.
She was employed by Washington Hospital for 14 years in laundry and dietary.
Mrs. Sonson enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, bingo and listening to country music.
On April 14, 1945, she married Vincent J. Sonson, who died August 24, 1976.
Surviving are a son, Edward (Linda) Sonson of Washington; two daughters, Deborah Barnhart (Ken Sibert) and Antoinette (Jeffrey) Bainer, both of Washington; five grandchildren, Edward (Andria) Sonson, Amy Burk, Brian (Michelle) Barnhart, Jeffrey Bainer and Christa Bainer; and four great-grandchildren, Vincent and Olivia Sonson and Perry and Mela Barnhart.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are six sisters, Frances, Margaret, Mary, Ida, Betty and Ann, and a brother, Fred.
A blessing service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 24, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Father Carmen D’Amico officiating, followed by visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Additional information and a guest book are available at www.NealFuneralHome.com.
