Joseph Amendola, 84, of Carroll Township, died suddenly Sunday, May 19, 2013.
He was born January 17, 1929, in Malito Calabria, Italy, a son of the late Louigi and Marie Gotti Amendola.
Mr. Amendola was retired as a pipe fitter for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora, Italian American Heritage Society, Knights of Columbus of Monessen and Westmoreland Columbus 500.
Deceased are his wife, Carmen C. Battilana Amendola, who died in 2001, and a brother, Vincenzo “Jimmy” Amendola.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Rose Amendola of Monongahela; a special companion who resided with him, Maria Grano; a sister, Nella (John) Panarello of Dormant; a brother-in-law, Tony (Carol) Battilana of Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in James A. Rabe Funeral Home Inc., 701 Thompson Avenue, Donora, where prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Church, Donora, with the Rev. Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
