Darlene Bertha Crothers Brooks, 67, of Southview, loving mother and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

She was born October 23, 1945, in Southview, a daughter of the late William Donald and Bertha Bell Spencer Crothers.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church and the Clan Mothers of Native American Indian Coalition of Pennsylvania.

She was a homemaker known for her icebox pudding cake and preparing delicious meals for her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Sherry (Glen) Tretyak of Cecil; two sons, Dean (Stacey) J. Brooks and Brian Scott Brooks, both of Southview; four grandchildren, Elisha (Joe Geyer) Tretyak, Dean Brooks and twins Emma Jean and Jacob Scott Brooks; two great-grandchildren, Dean and McKennah Brooks; two sisters, Betty Ann (Sonny) Gent and Wilma (Wayne) Lewis, both of Southview; a brother, Bill (Deborah) Crothers of McDonald; a brother-in-law, Dave Wussick of Southview; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William A. Brooks Jr. in 2011; and a son, Billy Brooks, whose remembrance is as strong now as when he died; and a sister, Sandy Wussick.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road (Route 50), Cecil, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, with Pastor Fred Soberg officiating.
