Roger J. Cuccaro
Longtime North Franklin Township police chief
Roger J. Cuccaro, 61, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Washington, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born August 28, 1951, in Allegheny County.
Mr. Cuccaro was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.
He was an emergency medicine technician/paramedic for Ambulance and Chair for many years, beginning in 1974. He was a longtime deputy coroner for the former Washington County Coroner Farrell Jackson. He was also a graduate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Training Center, a police officer and longtime police chief of North Franklin Township and a certified private investigator, who established Knight Investigation and Consulting Services in 1988. After moving to Florida in 2004, he worked as director of resort security for Westgate Resorts until August 2011.
Mr. Cuccaro was a member of International Association of Fire Service Instructors, National Association of the Chief of Police, the local branch of the BPOE Elks Lodge 776 and Fraternal Order of Police, while living in Washington.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.
In August 1979, he married Marian Mersky, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Chad Cuccaro of Florida; a daughter, Amanda (Lucas) Evans of Florida; a brother, Lou Delbene; a sister, Linda Dench of Carnegie; and a grandson, Zane Evans of Florida.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Vietnam Veterans Association or any veterans association of your choice.
