Ralph Weaver
Enjoyed time with family and grandchildren
Ralph Weaver, 74, of New Freeport (Gilmore Township), died unexpectedly at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, in his home.
He was born March 4, 1939, in Jackson Township, Greene County, a son of the late Ray “Buss” and Anna Katherine Utt Weaver, and had been a resident of Gilmore Township since 1966.
Mr. Weaver was a member and former deacon of Centennial Church of God and had been attending Maranantha Baptist Church in Holbrook at the time of his death.
He was a former member of Centennial Cemetery board of directors.
Mr. Weaver enjoyed his time with his family and grandchildren, traveling and hunting.
He was a former employee of Berdine Custom Hardwoods, Paris Construction Co., Green Ridge Oil, Headlee Brothers Sawmill, Pace Pipeline and last was employed as a supervisor for Gilmore Township for approximately 18 years prior to retiring in 2008.
On August 1, 1964, he married Betty Jean Morris, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David, husband of Penny Weaver, and a daughter, Lisa Gatrell, companion of Sam Byrne, both of New Freeport; five grandchildren, Kurtis Gatrell, companion of Shana Yanak, Kevin and Keith Gatrell and Lauren and Craig Weaver; a great-grandchild, Bailey Gatrell; three brothers, John Albert and Charles “Bub” Weaver, both of New Freeport, and Donley, husband of Fern Weaver of Holbrook; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Edna Mae “Sis” Main and Betty Lee Cunningham.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, with the Rev. Vernon K. Berdine officiating.
