Frances Hamercheck
Longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church
Frances Hamercheck, 94, of Waynesburg, formerly of Richeyville, died peacefully Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 1, 1918, a daughter of the late Michael and Frances Sine.
For 20 years, she owned and operated Fran’s Beauty Shop in Daisytown.
Mrs. Hamercheck was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Charleroi and a member of Beth Center Senior Center.
During World War II, she volunteered for the American Red Cross.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, bowling, doing puzzles and traveling. She was an avid reader.
Surviving are a daughter, Gail F. Hook (James) of Waynesburg; seven grandchildren, Denise Duncan-McDaniel, Jeanette Murin, John Rucci, Dino M. Rucci, Scott Rucci, John M. Marish and Martin A. Marish; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased is her husband, Martin Hamercheck, who died December 15, 1992.
Also deceased are a son, Dale Hamercheck; a daughter, Jean M. Zahara; a grandson, Dale Hamercheck Jr.; a great-grandson, Jesse Marish; six sisters, Katherine Radnick, Sophie Sine, Rose Hadjcek, Helen Huzway, Anna Popovich and Mary Densmore; and four brothers, George, William, Nicholas and Frank Sine.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, June 1, in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, with Pastor Peter Aspin officiating. Interment will be in Phillipsburg Cemetery, California.
