Avid baker enjoyed feeding family, friends

Rose Skarupa, 91, of Cherry Valley, died Friday, May 31, 2013, in her home.

She was born May 23, 1922, in Slovan, a daughter of Frank and Mary Ann Mosti Bongiorni.

Mrs. Skarupa had been employed by Delfrate’s Meat Packing Co. in Slovan and Billy Boy’s Pizza in Burgettstown.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown and St. Ann’s Church in Bulger.

Mrs. Skarupa was an avid baker and enjoyed “feeding” her homemade goodies to family and friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Jim) Pagasky of Cherry Valley; a son, Michael (Pauline) Skarupa of Cherry Valley; grandchildren Craig (Allyson) Pagasky and Garett, Brett and Jessie Skarupa; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Mike Skarupa; brothers Herman, Dominic, Octavio “Tib,” Joe, Gino, Harry and Eddie Bongiorni; and sisters Alice Tenaglia, Violet Conjeski, Edith Filipponi and Amelia “Bunny” Beard.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where a blessing service will be held at noon Monday, June 3, with the Rev. George Monek officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown.
