Retired Washington Park Elementary teacher

Eileen “Ya Ya” Nix, 64, of Fallowfield Township, died Sunday, November 3, 2013.

She was born February 12, 1949, a daughter of the late Lou and Wanda Sikora Pedzwater.

Mrs. Nix was retired from Washington Park Elementary School, where she taught fifth grade.

She especially loved caring for her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Jeffrey Nix of Fallowfield Township; a son, Shane Leska and wife Amy of Fallowfield Township; a daughter, Jennifer Williams and husband Duane of Fallowfield Township; grandchildren Alleah and Lucas Leska and Evan Williams; brother Rick Pedzwater and wife Vanessa of York; niece Meagan Handford and husband Chuck of Albany, N.Y.; and nephew Devin Pedzwater and wife Gina of New York City.

Mrs. Nix leaves behind her yellow Labrador companion, Gus.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Carl J. Spallino Funeral Home, 819 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, where a Catholic blessing will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 7, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Mikonis. Interment will be private.
