Paul Leroy Harps, 84, of Carnegie, formerly Washington, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation, Canonsburg.
He was born April 29, 1929, in Washington, a son of the late William Harps and Ethel Haines Harps.
Mr. Harps was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School and attended Carlow College.
He worked for 17 years at Brockway 7, for 25 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and for nine-and-a-half years at Wal-mart.
Mr. Harps enjoyed woodworking.
He most recently attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Washington.
On July 2, 1953, he married Shirley Jean Frye, who died January 12, 2006.
On March 29, 2008, he married Beatrice Imogene Williams, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Alan Leroy Harps of Washington; five daughters, Barbara (Alan) DePaoli of Pittsburgh, Kimberly (William) Pareso of Columbus, Ohio, Janice Neff of Radcliff, Ky., Vicky Harps of Irvington, Ky., and Bylle Davidson of Washington; stepchildren Carol Kirschner and Homer Nixon, both of Washington, Walter Nixon and Richard Nixon, both of McDonald, and Edward Nixon of Prosperity; two brothers, Merle E. and Carl Harps, both of Washington; a sister, Ruth Ann Cox of Anderson, S.C.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are five brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 7, with Pastor James Duggan officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
