Elizabeth Jones Beagle, 97, of Madison, Ohio, and formerly of Greensboro, Cabbage Flats, died at 2:18 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in Lantern of Madison.

She was born December 20, 1915, in Rices Landing, a daughter of George and Chrysta Marie Gabler Neff.

Mrs. Beagle was a graduate of Doylestown High School and a former member of Mapletown United Methodist Church, Greensboro. She was currently a member of Park United Methodist Church in Madison.

She served as a mother adviser for Rainbow Girls in Waynesburg and a past worthy matron of Ideal Chapter 213, Masontown.

Mrs. Beagle cherished her entire family and enjoyed cooking for them.

On September 10, 1938, she married William S. Jones, who died October 25, 1984.

On November 16, 1993, she married Clyde R. Beagle, who died November 11, 2002.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet A. Franczek and husband Arthur of Madison and Christa E. Bartos of Oakmont; three grandchildren, Susan Quayle and husband Charles, Arthur Scott Franczek and wife Carli and Barbara Loftus and husband Steve; four great-grandchildren, Perry, Sam, Emily and Steele; a sister, Ruth Ann Neff of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, James M. Jones III; a great-grandson, Benjamin Quayle; five brothers, John, Benjamin, Harry, George and James Neff; two sisters, Mary Ainsley and Jane Biddle; and her son-in-law, Thomas Bartos.

Family and friends are welcome from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, Friday, November 8, in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church

Ann Frances Bernola, 91, of Burgettstown, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, in UPMC-Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born June 26, 1922, in Bulger, a daughter of the late Charles and Vincenza Acquisto Tabone.

Along with her husband, “Monk,” she owned and operated Bernola’s Restaurant in Burgettstown, during the early 1950s.

Prior to retirement, she was employed by Shop ‘n Save in McDonald.

Mrs. Bernola was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown and its Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters, Burgettstown Senior Citizens and Four Seasons.

She especially enjoyed spending time with family, loving to cook for and cater to them.

Surviving are a son, Charles (Ruth) Bernola of Burgettstown; granddaughters Gina Maria Bernola of Burgettstown and Christina Ann Bernola (Tarris) Brown of Orlando, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Qwentari Kirk Brown and Louis Brown III; a sister, Vincy Nencioni of Bulger; five sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her husband, Elmo “Monk” Bernola; and two brothers, Steve and Jim Tabone.

Former Finleyville Borough mayor

William B. “Scubby” Bores, 83, of Finleyville, died Monday, November 4, 2013, in his home.

He was born November 10, 1929, in Finleyville, a son of Joseph Sr. and Tillie Yacunsky Bores.

Mr. Bores was retired as an assistant manager at Cicci Dance Supply in Finleyville and was employed as a driver for Matthews Bus Co. in Eighty Four.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 613 and Loyal Order of Moose 172, both in Finleyville.

Mr. Bores served as mayor of Finleyville Borough.

Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Miller Bores; a son, William Bores of North Wales; a daughter, Stacey Molenari and husband Jim of Doylestown; a brother, Donald Bores of Finleyville; a sister, Patricia Esworthy of Columbia, Md.; two granddaughters, Macella and Lauren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Joseph and Gerald Bores.

Evelyn Brichetti, 94, of Clarksville, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.

She was born January 10, 1919, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late James C. and Lillie Flanagan Fountain.

Mrs. Brichetti was a homemaker.

She lived all of her married life in Clarksville, where she was a member and elder of Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aid Society.

On July 25, 1945, she married Milio P. Brichetti, who died February 12, 1985.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Virginia Brichetti, and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sisters, Dorothy Saylor and Lillian DeHaven.

Former Fort Cherry School District employee

Setsuko Hyodo Couderc, 85, of Jefferson, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, November 4, 2013, in Rae-Ann Nursing Home, Geneva, Ohio.

She was born November 12, 1927, in Kitatoyojima, Japan, a daughter of the late Zenzo and Yaeno Hyodo.

On October 30, 1957, in Yokohama, Japan, she married Harry J. Couderc Jr.

Harry, Setsuko and their son, Richard, moved to McDonald in 1958.

Mrs. Couderc worked as a cafeteria worker for 26 years for Fort Cherry School District at both McDonald Elementary School and Fort Cherry High School, before retiring in 1989.

She had a love of all animals and was especially fond of cats and dogs. She had a beautiful voice, and she loved to sing church hymns, traditional Japanese songs and her favorite song, “You are My Sunshine.” She had a talent for drawing, enjoyed crafts and gardening. Those who knew Mrs. Couderc will always remember her soft-spoken ways and her kindness to all she met.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends from the McDonald area and her extended family and friends from the Jefferson area.

Surviving is her only son, Richard M. (Jackie) Couderc of Jefferson, with whom she made her home. She was a loving grandmother to Chad (Jill) Dillie, Richard M. (RC) Couderc II and Breanne Couderc. Also surviving are a great-granddaughter, Madison Couderc, and former daughter-in-law, Brenda L. Couderc.

Deceased are her husband, who died Dec. 29, 1962, and a brother, Ziechi Hyodo.

Mrs. Couderc was cared for by the staff at Rae-Ann Geneva Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center over the past year.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of services, Thursday, November 7, in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald. The Rev. Justin Amsler, pastor of McDonald Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.

Melinda Joe Haddix, 57, of Washington, died Monday, November 4, 2013, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

She was born October 26, 1956, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Dorothy Waldron of Pittsburgh.

A homemaker, Mrs. Haddix enjoyed collecting dolls and Beanie Babies.

In January 1974, she married Sherman Haddix, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Sherman Haddix III, Charles Haddix and Sebastion Haddix, all of Washington; three daughters, Tiffaney Haddix of Pittsburgh, Melinda Cox of Guyton, Ga., and Felicia Haddix of Washington; and 11 grandchildren.

Former Trinity Area School District teacher

Ruth I. Johnson, 95, of Washington, died Monday, November 4, 2013, in Evergreen Personal Care Home, Washington.

She was born September 17, 1918, in Malden, a daughter of the late David and Mary Maude Kemper Staley.

Mrs. Johnson was a 1936 graduate of Brownsville High School and received her bachelor’s of education degree from California State Teachers College in 1943.

For 36 years, she was an elementary school teacher for Trinity Area School District, working 16 of those years at Windsor Elementary School.

She was a member of PSEAR and enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles and needlepoint.

On February 27, 1942, she married Sylvester “Curly” Johnson, who died September 20, 2008.

Surviving are two sons, William L. Johnson (Tammy) and Robert D. Johnson (Hilary), both of Washington; four grandchildren, Daniel, Douglas, Dale and Jeremy Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Caitlin Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Aidan Tarr, Gavin Serefini, Jillian Johnson, Claire Johnson, Emma Johnson and Sydney Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are two sisters, Edna and Helen Rankin, and three brothers, Bob, Frank and Byron Staley.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Julia S. Kerr, 93, of Carmichaels, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013, in her home.

She was born December 1, 1919, in Fayette County, a daughter of the late Charles and Poline Sabine Swistak.

She was married to the late Nathan B. Kerr.

Mrs. Kerr is survived by three children, Charles C. Kerr and wife Sharon, Nathan B. Kerr and Judith R. Price; seven grandchildren, Charles Kerr II, Dawn Ringling, Brian Kerr, Lance Kerr, Julia Price, Heidi Brayer and Shannon Irvin; eight great-grandchildren; and her extended family, Glen and Marianne Dale, Dorothy Fabery Cunningham Kerr and Thomas W. Petron. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kerr lived for her God, family and farming. She loved all that nature provided.

She takes with her fond memories of the kindness and generosity of her friends and neighbors, her cherished collection of postcards from around the world and greeting cards of cheer.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Donald Vance Lambert Sr., 86, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, November 4, 2013.

He was born April 7, 1927.

Mr. Lambert resided in Fuquay-Varina for 10 years after relocating from Bridgeville. He was a Mason for Centennial Lodge 544 in Carnegie and was the owner and operator of Lambert Drilling Co.

Deceased is his wife, Shirley Lambert.

Surviving are his children, Janet Kangas and husband Darren of Willow Spring, N.C., Ruth Cooper and husband Richard of Raleigh, N.C., Tom Lambert and wife Pam of Guyton, Ga., and Don Lambert and wife Judy of Woodstock, Md; two sisters; five brothers; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Williford Funeral Home, Fuquay-Varina, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 8, in the chapel. Interment will directly follow at Wake Chapel Church, Fuquay-Varina.

Jefferson Avenue U.M. Church member

David Leon Mohr, 55, of Rudy, Ark., entered into rest October 29, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.

He was born January 18, 1958, in Washington.

Mr. Mohr was the owner of Solar Shield in Fort Smith.

He was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, where he served as president of youth fellowship and attended camps. He was an avid fan of the Steelers, Pirates, NASCAR and fishing.

Mr. Mohr was a 1975 graduate of Trinity High School, where he participated in wrestling, baseball and track.

Deceased are his father, Donald Mohr; brothers Michael Lee Mohr and Douglas Lynn Mohr; stepfather Harry A. James; and grandparents Edmund and Pauline Mohr and Wilbert and Ruth Clutter, all of Washington County.

Surviving are his wife, Deedra; son Alex of Rudy; children Vikki, Nicole and Chuck; stepson Zach Wilkinson of Fayetteville; mother Mary Lou James of Washington; brother Donald (Beth) Mohr of Washington; nieces and nephews Matt, Greg, Donald “DJ” and Heather Mohr; and uncle Dick Mohr of Washington.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9, in Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, Washington, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. A lunch will be served afterward.

Retired Washington Park Elementary teacher

Eileen “Ya Ya” Nix, 64, of Fallowfield Township, died Sunday, November 3, 2013.

She was born February 12, 1949, a daughter of the late Lou and Wanda Sikora Pedzwater.

Mrs. Nix was retired from Washington Park Elementary School, where she taught fifth grade.

She especially loved caring for her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Jeffrey Nix of Fallowfield Township; a son, Shane Leska and wife Amy of Fallowfield Township; a daughter, Jennifer Williams and husband Duane of Fallowfield Township; grandchildren Alleah and Lucas Leska and Evan Williams; brother Rick Pedzwater and wife Vanessa of York; niece Meagan Handford and husband Chuck of Albany, N.Y.; and nephew Devin Pedzwater and wife Gina of New York City.

Mrs. Nix leaves behind her yellow Labrador companion, Gus.

Gail Jean Pearson, 78, of Washington, died Monday, November 4, 2013, in Kade Nursing Home, Canton Township.

She was born November 22, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of Oscar Davis and Myrtle Glaum Davis, who are deceased.

Mrs. Pearson was employed for 31 years at Brockway 7 as a packer and ARC Human Services, from which she retired.

She attended Davidson Methodist Church.

Mrs. Pearson was married to Robert Pearson, who died in 1979.

Surviving are a son, Ronald D. (Denise) Davis of Washington; a sister, Maxine I. Roberts of Eighty Four; two grandchildren, Heather (Jon) Fischer of Delray Beach, Fla., and Shawn (Meghan) Davis of Canonsburg; and special longtime friends, Linda and Al Chieffalo and Patrick.

Deceased are four brothers, Carl, Merle, Jack and twin Dale; and a sister, Geraldine Berkey.

WWII veteran enjoyed hunting and fishing

Harry A. Rasel, 87, of Washington, died Monday, November 4, 2013 in his home.

He was born January 22, 1926, in Amity, a son of the late Harry M. and Cora Bolton Rasel.

He attended Sowers School and Trinity High School.

He joined and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, being one of the first soldiers to land on Iwo Jima, where he was wounded. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Additionally, Mr. Rasel participated in the occupation of Japan from September to October 1945. He earned a Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Rasel worked as a coal miner and warehouse foreman for Fairmont Supply, from where he retired in 1992.

He was a member of American Legion Post 175 of Washington and Washington County Marine Corps League Detachment 1138. Mr. Rasel was a life member of Washington Arms Club.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with friends. He also enjoyed spending time with friends at the Legion.

On September 5, 1979, in Frostburg, Md., he married Helena P. Hetrick, who is deceased.

Surviving are a sister, Mary Lou Bercosky; three stepdaughters, Debra (Randy) Wagers, Vicki (Gary) Rush and Tamara (Bill) Johnson; five stepgrandchildren, Michelle, Randy Jr., Steven, Kelli and April; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Myranda, Kourtney, Max, Gavin and Addison; many nieces and nephews; and his best friends, Tom and Katie Landish.

Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are five sisters, Ruth Watson, Martha Briggs, Idell Briggs, Elsie Rasel and Bernice Rasel; six brothers, F. Edwin Rasel, Albert Rasel, Frank Rasel, Leroy Rasel, Paul Rasel and Norvin Rasel; and a stepgrandson, Herb.

Enjoyed the simple pleasures in life

Phyllis Evelyn Dillon Riber, 89, known to many as “Gaga” or “Phee,” died Friday, November 1, 2013, in Apex, N.C. She never had a broken bone or major ailment; her death was caused by heart failure.

Born August 14, 1924, and raised in Marianna, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Eleanor Dillon. Many stories are still told about her many sled rides from the top of the hill, where she attended school, all the way past her house on Beason Avenue.

Mrs. Riber attended Marianna United Methodist Church.

She worked at Nice Ball Bearing in Philadelphia during World War II, and The Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., where she met and married Lester Riber in 1964. They lived their life together in Washington, D.C., and Colorado Springs, returning to Marianna in 1971.

Following the steps of her mother, Mrs. Riber was always a caregiver who took pride in attending to her husband, until his death in 1973, and neighborhood friends late in life.

She moved to Smithfield, N.C., in 2000 to be close to her daughter and grandson, moving one last time to Apex in 2009.

Over the last four years, she had five roommates and was visited often by her grandson and niece’s family, the Abeles. The pride and joy of seeing her great-grandson carried her through the loneliest of days. She was always known to bring a smile and a laugh to the hearts of other residents and workers at Spring Arbor.

Mrs. Riber enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: time with family and a good cup of coffee. She was able to enjoy these until her last year of life. She was always the one to lift your soul with a simple phrase or a lovely song. Her sweet heart and loving manner will be missed dearly.

The family would like to thank all that provided care within the last days of her life, Spring Arbor of Apex and Hospice, N.C.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Paulette Dillon; her grandson, David Lee (Jackie) Dillon; and her great-grandson, Ashton Phillip Dillon, born 2010, all of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by her niece, Mary Manchey (Don) Abele of Burlington, N.C.; their children, Kimberly, Erin, Elisa and Benjamin; and several other extended relatives that were close in heart from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Utah and Missouri.

In addition to her parents and husband, she will be reunited with all her brothers and sisters that proceeded her in death, Karl Eugene Dillon, Philip John Dillon, William James Dillon and Winifred Irene Dillon Manchey.

Monongahela woman known for her baking

Pamela Ann Weld Yowonske Winkleblech, 68, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in UPMC-McKeesport hospital.

She was born October 10, 1945 in California, the daughter of the late William R. Sr. and Gertrude D. Ermlick Weld.

For seven years, Mrs. Winkleblech was a school bus driver for Charleroi Area School District, from where she retired. In her younger years, while her children were in school, she was a member of Charleroi PTA and Block Parents Association and a co-founder of the band boosters. She was also the founder of Twilight Borough Civic Club and a former member of Lock 4 Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Winkleblech was best known for her baking and was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed help.

She is survived by her husband, William Winkleblech, with whom she celebrated 14 years of marriage December 10, 2012; twin sons, Ronnie Yowonske and wife Christeen of Monongahela and Randie Yowonske and fiancee Genelle Semko of Charleroi; two stepsons, Jarold Winkleblech of Monongahela and Ryan Winkleblech and wife Andrea of Delaware; seven stepgrandchildren, Jarrod and Brianna Wilson, Ashley Baysinger and Arianna, Kendra, Matthew and Malen Winkleblech; sister Brenda Weld Castner of Charleroi; very special friend, Cathy Zippay; and friend Fred Yowonske.

She also leaves behind her loving dog, Pooh.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her brother, William “Jr.” Weld, and her nephew, Jasson Castner.
