Member of Avery Church served in Army

Paul E. Kuhn, 89, of Washington, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 31, 1924, in Canonsburg, a son of Clyde and Berdie May Bayles Kuhn.

Mr. Kuhn was a member of Avery United Methodist Church in Washington.

He was employed by West Penn Power Co. for 42 years, as a lead lineman.

Mr. Kuhn served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was formerly a member of American Legion Post 175.

His activities included baseball, in his younger days, hunting, for which he owned hunting dogs, and dartball. He enjoyed eating cookies and meeting his friends at the mall.

On August 14, 1967, in Mars, he married Norma Rowell Phillips, who survives.

Also surviving are a granddaughter, Brianne (John) Corrins of Washington and her children, Makayla and Riley Corrins; a sister-in-law, Alice Kuhn of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a stepdaughter, Lori E. Phillips; a brother, Clyde Sherman Kuhn; and three sisters, Harriet Doak, Ann Kuhn and Hazel B. Henderson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, with the Rev. Ruth Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
