Peter D. Strolis
Licensed pilot served in Marine Corps
Peter D. Strolis of Waynesboro, Va., formerly of Peters Township, passed away peacefully Friday, October 25, 2013, in his home, after a 17-month battle with lung cancer.
He was born March 4, 1933, in Cortland, N.Y., a son of the late Peter and Mildred Caldwell Strolis.
Mr. Strolis served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a licensed pilot and spent his career as an electrical engineer in the international field. He retired in 1993 from Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Pittsburgh.
After his retirement, he bought a recreational vehicle and took two trips a year, traveling the United States and Canada for the next 19 years with his wife, Carole, who survives.
A memorial reception with a light lunch buffet will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, November 15, in Westminster Presbyterian Church, Memorial Parlor, 2040 Washington Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241. The memorial parlor is located north of the sanctuary in the north entrance of the church.
