Trinity H.S. grad loved animals, chocolate

Norma Jean Barbour Quay, 88, of Oxford, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in Knolls of Oxford.

She was born May 3, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of the late Richard Montgomery Barbour and Bertha Mary Chapman Barbour.

Mrs. Quay was the last member of her immediate family.

On July 2, 1949, she married Henry Quay, who preceded her in death August 8, 1995. She lived all of her married life in Washington.

She moved to Oxford in 2001 to be near her stepson and family after the death of her husband.

Deceased are seven brothers, James, Harry, Richard, Howard, Franklin, Edward and Carl Barbour; and a sister, Bertha Barbour Atkinson.

Surviving are a stepson, Richard Henry (Rebecca) Quay; three grandchildren, Maria Elizabeth (Steve) Brossart of Mason, Ohio, William Henry Quay (Sarah Chernitsky) of Oxford and Daniel Robert (Marie) Quay of Cincinnati, Ohio; and seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Jacob, Patrick, Anthony, Grace and Monica.

Mrs. Quay was a 1943 graduate of Trinity High School.

During World War II, she was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania.

She loved animals, especially cats, and was a big NASCAR fan. Her favorite food was by far anything chocolate.

Her ashes will be interred next to her husband in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, South Strabane Township. Memorials may be made in her name to Knolls of Oxford, c/o Memory Unit, 6727 Contreras Road, Oxford, OH 45056. Condolences may be sent to www.oglepaulyoungfuneralhome.com.
