U.S. Steel retiree served during WWII
Charles N. Wilhelm, 85, of Finleyville, formerly of Whitehall, died Sunday, November 10, 2013, in his home.
He was born November 22, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a son of Charles and Mary Paff Wilhelm.
Mr. Wilhelm was retired as a lab technician at the former U.S. Steel Corp., Homestead Works.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Wilhelm was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Finleyville, American Legion Post 613 in Finleyville, Finleyville Airport OX5 Aviation Club and Experimental Aircraft Association and was a former member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Whitehall.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16, in St. Elizabeth Church, Whitehall, with the Rev. Dale DeNinno as celebrant. Everyone please meet at the church Saturday. Interment will follow in St. Anne Cemetery, Castle Shannon. American Legion Post 613 will conduct services at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
