Enjoyed woodworking, avid hunter
Fred V. McCracken, 71, of Aleppo Township, Greene County, died unexpectedly at 8:19 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2013, near his home.
He was born July 17, 1942, in Aleppo Township, a son of the late Montgomery Elliott and Icie Lenora Riggle McCracken.
Mr. McCracken resided in Aleppo Township his entire life.
He was a member of Aleppo Brethren Church and a member of National Rifle Association.
Mr. McCracken was a graduate of West Greene High School.
He was a self-employed carpenter most of his adult life, enjoyed woodworking and owned and operated his own sawmill.
Mr. McCracken was an avid hunter, loved all animals, collected Indian artifacts, was an antique collector, an accomplished pen and pencil artist and a self-taught photographer.
Surviving are two sisters, Mona Lough of Glen Burnie, Md., and Karmen, wife of Beryl Ward of Warren, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are five half-brothers, Wayne and Raymond McCracken and Raymond, Glenn and Robert Dowler, and a half-sister, Carolene Watkins.
At the request of the family, there will be no public services. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo Township.
