Retired coal miner

John Joseph Baldigowski, 99, of McDonald, Robinson Township, died Thursday, November 14, 2013.

He was born November 12, 1914, in Sturgeon, a son of the late John and Rose Krysik Baldigowski.

Mr. Baldigowski spent his entire working life as a coal miner for Consolidated Coal before retiring in 1966. He worked at both the No. 9 mine and Montour No. 4 mine.

He was a member of United Mine Workers of America, St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in McDonald and the church’s Holy Name Society.

In February of 1935, he married Genevieve Zombeck, who died April 6, 1964. In January of 1980, he married Mary Maglich, who died May 15, 2003.

Surviving are five sons, John (Linda) Baldigowski, Eugene Baldigowski and Michael Baldigowski, all of McDonald, Carl (Gloria) Baldigowski of Midway and Daniel Baldigowski of Canonsburg; seven daughters, Josephine (late Robert) Grutzik of Dover, Del., and Helen (Richard) Daniels, Veronica (Carl) Daniels, Susan Cobb and Rose (Late Bill) Haines, all of McDonald, Bonnie (Richard) Green of Virginia Beach, Va., and Diana (Ronald) Chauvet of Oakdale; two sisters, Ann Vincenti of Moon Township and Elizabeth Poznak of McDonald; 26 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are four brothers, Ernest, Francis, Joseph and Paul, and three sisters, Mary Powlikoski, Martha Miller and Clara Harouse.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 18, in St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, McDonald. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township.

Sarah Cook, formerly of Sturgeon, died November 12, 2013, daughter of the late Charles and Nancy Cook.

Surviving children Douglas and Colleen Hazel and siblings, Jody Orsky and Michael Cook.

Deceased is son Kenny Hazel.

1985-2013

Kyle D. Deliere, 27, of Cecil, died peacefully Friday, November 15, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born December 18, 1985, in Pittsburgh, a son of Tanny and the late Patricia Flaherty Deliere.

Mr. Deliere was a 2004 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, where he earned 11 varsity letters during his high school athletic career. A standout wrestler, he won several championships including a WPIAL and Powerade Title. He was also a 2008 graduate of University of Pittsburgh, where he earned two varsity wrestling letters.

Surviving are his father, Tanny (Janet) Deliere; a brother, Tanny J. Deliere; a stepsister, Stephanie Morgan; a stepbrother, Brennan Morgan; an uncle, Dr. Emil (Barb) Deliere; an aunt, Bernadette (Gene) Bonner; and his maternal grandmother, Rosemary Flaherty.

Deceased are his paternal grandparents, Morris and Louise Deliere.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, 412-221-3333. Middletown, Ohio resident

Stephen G. Ertle Jr., 43, of Middletown, Ohio, died Thursday, November 14, 2013.

Surviving are his mother, Marilyn Wainscott Ertle, and sisters, Mary Mansfield and Lorna Danko.

Deceased is his father, Stephen G. Ertle Sr.

Enjoyed fishing, antique cars

Gerald R. “Sonny” Finnegan, 78, of Aleppo Township, Greene County, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013, in his home, after being seriously ill for the past four months.

He was born June 25, 1935, in Aleppo Township, a son of the late Robert Murray and Myrtle Mae Garey Finnegan.

Mr. Finnegan resided in Aleppo Township all his life, where he was a member of Aleppo Brethren Church.

He enjoyed fishing, antique cars and restoration, and was known on the CB waves as “Apple Jack.”

Mr. Finnegan was employed as a laborer and equipment operator by various water and sewer pipeline construction companies for 47 years, and was last employed by David Black Contracting of Wintersville, Ohio, prior to retiring in 1997.

On December 23, 1958, he married Mary Ruth Smith, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Robbie Lee, husband of Tammy Finnegan of Wind Ridge; four grandchildren, Hillary Cumpston, Heather Day and Katelynn and Addison Finnegan; and a sister, Peggy, wife of Asa Hughes of Allentown.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Kenneth L. Finnegan, who died in 2007.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, with the Rev. Larry Holtz officiating. Interment will follow in Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo Township, Greene County.

Served in Army, enjoyed dancing

John Nelson Franks, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, in Silver Sands Assisted Living, Ashtabula, Ohio, surrounded by family.

He was born December 16, 1930, in Shanty Town, Crucible, a son of Edward Franklin Franks and Evelyn H. Reagan Franks.

Mr. Franks was a 1950 graduate of Cumberland Township High School, where he was a drum major in the marching band.

He worked at Willard Battery in Cleveland, Ohio, and Kansas City, Mo., Stouffer Frozen Foods as a production manager, traveling extensively setting up their new broccoli and cheese lines in California and Illinois. He returned to Eastlake, Ohio, where he helped set up their new plant in Solon, Ohio. He then went to work at General Foods as a production manager for the cities of Boston, Mass., and Pittsburgh, setting up their school lunch programs. Tired of being in management and the food industry, he went to work at CEI in Cleveland as a plant electrician and retired in 1990. After retirement, he owned and operated Uncle John’s Restaurant in Andover, Ohio.

Mr. Franks served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He enjoyed dancing, gardening, traveling, cooking and playing games on his computer.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are brother Gene Franks; stepfather Earl Blevins; stepbrother Ardiste Blevins; stepsisters Nadine Stevens and Avenell Ledgerton; nephews Gene M. Franks Jr. and John Grant Franks; nieces Debra Ann Franks and Sandra Kay Metz; and great-nephew Alvin Lee Hill.

Surviving are brother Grant (Garnet) Franks of Carmichaels; sister Dorothy McCombs of Andover; sister Portia (Adolf) Fullgrabe of Springfield, Ill.; stepsisters Mary Jo Rutkosky of Rices Landing and Pauline Garvin of LaGrange, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., the time of service, Monday, November 18, in Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown.

Homemaker enjoyed family

Frances M. Galbraith, of Canonsburg, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, on her 79th birthday, in her home, with family by her side.

She was born in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Crinite Toddre.

Mrs. Galbraith lived in Canonsburg for the past 35 years.

She was Catholic.

Mrs. Galbraith was a homemaker who enjoyed her entire family.

Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Scott of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Carol McClelland of Canonsburg; a sister, Rose Taylor of Wexford; eight grandchildren, Clark, Denise, Diane, Joseph, Lisa, Lorie, Stacey and Robert; 24 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Ethan, May, Quinn, Kayla, Tripp, Katlyn, Darrell, Sheila, William James (B.J.), Roy, Jason, Britton, Dayla, Julien, Cory, Cara, Freddie, Cheyenne, Mason, Heather, Missy, Bobby and Miranda and 8 great-great-grandchildren; Haylee, Charles, Logan, Ava, Darrell, Sky, Gianna and Damon.

She also leaves behind special friends, Gracie, Sissy and Karen.

Deceased are her first husband, Robert Stumpf, who died June 3, 1966; her second husband, George W. Galbraith, who died July 7, 2011; a son, Robert Stumpf, who died August 6, 2011; a grandson, Joey Diaz; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Diaz; four sisters; and a brother.

WWII, Navy veteran

Donald C. Gordon, 86, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in Canonsburg Hospital.

He was born April 19, 1927, in Washington, a son of Raymond and Roeine Griffin Gordon.

Mr. Gordon was a veteran, serving in the Navy during World War II.

He worked at Shenango Steel Mill on Neville Island and retired from Ft. Pitt Bridge in Canonsburg, where he worked for 12 years.

Mr. Gordon was a member of the National American Legion.

On March 21, 1949, he married Ethel J. Adams, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, James Gordon (Mary) of Morrison, Okla.; a stepgranddaughter, Danessa Ponce; and a brother, John Gordon of Buffalo, N.Y.

Deceased are a son, Donald C. Gordon Jr.; four brothers, Raymond, Harold, James and Robert Gordon; and two sisters, Ruth Ann Morman and Flora Grinage.

Loving wife and mother to her two children

Brenda L. Krepps, 54, of Claysville, died Friday, November 15, 2013, in her home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born August 24, 1959, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Shirley Y. Dillie of Washington, and the late Carl Anderson.

A 1977 graduate of Trinity High School, she attended Church of Christ.

Mrs. Krepps worked for 13 years at Walker Insurance Agency in Claysville as a licensed commercial and auto insurance agent. She then worked for six years at D’Alesio-Trettle Insurance Services, and most recently, for 10 years at BBL Fleet in Bridgeville.

She loved her family, friends and dog, Rufus. She was a loving wife and mother to her two children. Her hobbies were camping, ATV riding and being outdoors.

On April 26, 1980, she married Kevin L. Krepps, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Kevin R. Krepps of Claysville; a daughter, Kristin (Christopher) Lemley of Washington; a brother, Carl E. “Eric” (Cindy) Anderson; a sister, Kimberly (David) Orndoff; and several nieces and nephews.

Friend will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, with David Dagel officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.

Member of Wright’s Church was homemaker

Anne K. McClure, 96, of Barrington, Ill., formerly of Venetia, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, in her home.

She was born February 19, 1917, in New Kensington, a daughter of Joseph and Ann Danver Moxon.

Mrs. McClure was a homemaker and a member of Wright’s United Methodist Church in Venetia.

Surviving are a daughter, Garnet Kane and husband Bill of Barrington; five grandchildren, Sandy, Bill, Marci, Chris and Tom; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is her husband, John McClure, who died in 2005.

Enjoyed woodworking, avid hunter

Fred V. McCracken, 71, of Aleppo Township, Greene County, died unexpectedly at 8:19 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2013, near his home.

He was born July 17, 1942, in Aleppo Township, a son of the late Montgomery Elliott and Icie Lenora Riggle McCracken.

Mr. McCracken resided in Aleppo Township his entire life.

He was a member of Aleppo Brethren Church and a member of National Rifle Association.

Mr. McCracken was a graduate of West Greene High School.

He was a self-employed carpenter most of his adult life, enjoyed woodworking and owned and operated his own sawmill.

Mr. McCracken was an avid hunter, loved all animals, collected Indian artifacts, was an antique collector, an accomplished pen and pencil artist and a self-taught photographer.

Surviving are two sisters, Mona Lough of Glen Burnie, Md., and Karmen, wife of Beryl Ward of Warren, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are five half-brothers, Wayne and Raymond McCracken and Raymond, Glenn and Robert Dowler, and a half-sister, Carolene Watkins.

At the request of the family, there will be no public services. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo Township.

Janet Frances Parry, 70, of Waynesburg, died Friday, November 15, 2013, in Washington Hospital.

Mary Razum, 78, formerly of Fallowfield Township, died Friday, November 15, 2013, in Walnut Ridge Memory Care, Greensburg.

She was born October 9, 1935, in Preston, W.Va., a daughter of Howard and Leoma Lewis Troutman.

Mrs. Razum was a member of Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville.

She was retired from Beth-Center School District, where she was a teacher for many years.

Mrs. Razum was a miniature doll enthusiast.

Surviving are three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Gilfert and Pauline Mihalich of Smithton, Lillian Taylor of Monessen and Ronald and Katherine Zukauckas of Fallowfield Township; three nephews and two nieces, Leonard Mihalich of Van Voorhis, Gail Lever of Bentleyville, Gil Mihalich of Princeton, Mass., Daniel Rozum of Thailand and Cheryl Castillo of Dallas, Texas; and several cousins.

Deceased are her husband, George Razum, who died January 16, 2013 and a brother-in-law, Ernest Razum, who died October 31, 2008.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes Inc., 405 Main Street, Bentleyville, where prayers will be held 10 a.m. Monday, November 18, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Edward L. Yuhas as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Washington County Humane Society.
