Lifelong Avella resident was Korean War veteran
Levio “Peachy” Corgnati, 86, of Avella, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, in his home, surrounded by family.
He was born October 29, 1927, in Avella, a son of the late Stefano “Steve” and Ugolina Merlo Corgnati.
Mr. Corgnati was a graduate of Avella High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in the coke plant for 30 years, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Corgnati was a lifelong resident of Avella.
He was a member of American Legion Bert C. Siders Post 643 of Avella, Avella Sportsmen’s Club and Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society of Avella.
Mr. Corgnati enjoyed hunting, gardening, gambling and spending time with family.
On August 8, 1959, he married Dorothy J. Peterson, who died March 23, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Corgnati of Farmington; a son, Mark (Marty Jo) Corgnati of Sturgeon; two grandchildren, Levio and Max Corgnati; a brother, Eldo (Ann) Corgnati of Egg Harbor, N.J.; and a sister, Olga Raimondo of Greensburg.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 29. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella. Full military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Bert C. Siders Post 643 of Avella.
