Verna Brashear, 93, of Carmichaels, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born February 28, 1920, in Jacobs Creek, Westmoreland County, a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Augustine C. Valent Lindway.
Mrs. Brashear was a member of Fairdale Free Methodist Church, Carmichaels.
Surviving are two sons, Charles J. “Chuck” Brashear and wife Karen of Ohio and F. Gene Brashear and wife Elaine of Stephens City, Va.; a daughter, Darlene Metcalf of Rocky Ridge, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are her husband, Charles R. Brashear; a grandchild; a daughter, Catherine Burch; a brother, Charles Lindway; four sisters, Mary Walters, Irene C. Wellington, Velma Haley and Shirley Federer; and sons-in-law Ronald Burch and Ernie Metcalf.
Family and friends were welcomed from 10 a.m. to noon, the hour of services, Monday, November 25, in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels. The Rev. Robert Whoolery officiated. Interment followed in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
