National City Bank retiree

Sonja H. Berryhill, 76, of Big Run, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

She was born August 17, 1937, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Henry and Violet P. Hoel Horrell.

On February 1, 1964, she married Thomas R. Berryhill, who survives.

She was Protestant.

Mrs. Berryhill was a teller and an assistant manager for National City Bank in Big Run for 23 years and retired June 15, 1994.

She was a member of Big Run Beta, Eastern Star of Somerset for 55 years, and a life member of Penn State University Alumni Association.

Mrs. Berryhill enjoyed attending Penn State University football games for more than 35 years, bingo, bowling, trips to Salamanca, Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, and spending time with her family. She just enjoyed people.

In addition to her husband, surviving are a daughter, Heidi B. Howser and husband Scott of Herndon, Va.; a brother, Henry H. Horrell of Johnstown; and three grandchildren, Jack, Alec and Elyse Howser.

Deceased are her parents and a sister-in-law, Judy Horrell.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, with the Rev. David Nagle officiating. Interment will be in McClure Cemetery, Big Run. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made, in memory of Mrs. Berryhill, to Alzheimer’s Association, Christ the King Manor, or DRMC Hospice.
