Navy veteran was business owner
James Ewing Clark, 86, of Wellsboro, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro.
He was the husband of Ruth Little, whom he married December 30, 1950.
Mr. Clark was born July 9, 1927, in Washington, a son of the late Scott Walker and Mary Hartman Clark.
He was a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s of science degree in agriculture.
Mr. Clark was the owner of various local businesses.
He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro.
Mr. Clark was a proud resident of Wellsboro. He was a 16-year member and past president of Wellsboro Area School Board, past president of GROW, member and president of the Chamber of Commerce, member of Rotary, Tyoga Country Club, president of Kelsey Creek Investors Club and an active member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son and daughter-in-law, Scott Walker Clark and Margaret Crosby Clark of Wycombe; a daughter, Lynn Ellen Clark of Kensington, Md.; and grandchildren Sara Elizabeth Clark, senior at William and Mary College, and Michael James Clark, sophomore at University of Vermont.
Deceased is a brother, William Hartman Clark.
Friends and family are invited to a life celebration from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, October 5, in First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro, 130 Main Street, Wellsboro, with the Rev. Glen Hallead officiating. Burial in Wellsboro Cemetery.
